Minor/Double Major
There are Double Major and Minor programs for students who are interested in other programs and want to follow the courses of these programs while studying in the program. Double Major and Minor programs allow students to take courses from other programs close to their own fields and receive a diploma or certificate upon successful completion of the program. Students enrolled in these programs are required to complete the courses in their own programs as well as the courses in the curricula of the programs in which they are Double Major or Minor. In this respect, in order for students to complete these programs in reasonable time, an agreement is reached with programs that have more common courses in their curricula and are close to each other in terms of fields, and Double Major and Minor programs are opened between these programs. In this context, Double Major and Minor students from different programs of our University are accepted to our Program, and similarly, students studying in our Program can study Double Major and Minor in different programs of the University.
In the University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report published by YÖK in 2023, our university ranks third among the top five universities with the highest proportion of students doing DMP and YANDAL. In order to complete the Double Major or Minor program, the student must first graduate from his/her major. After graduating from the major, the graduate who successfully completes the Double Major program is awarded a separate diploma for both programs.
In the minor program, students follow the courses determined by the relevant program in order to gain knowledge or expertise in a different field in addition to their major education and receive a certificate instead of a diploma at the end of the program
Second and third year students can apply for Double Major and Minor programs. Seniors and students who have not yet completed their first year are not eligible to apply. While it is not possible to continue two different Double Major programs at the same time, it is possible to continue a Double Major and a Minor program at the same time. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.00 for Double Major programs and 2.50 for Minor programs. In addition, candidates must be in the top 20 percent of their class in terms of grade point average. However, among the students who are not in the top 20% of the success ranking in the relevant class of the major diploma program; those who have a score not less than the base score of the program to be double major in the relevant year can also apply to the double major program.
